Hypnotherapy
Anxiety, anger or stress related illness are common reactions in today’s society to being under prolonged or excessive pressure. It is all too easy to get stuck in a viscous cycle of stress, emotional instability or failing health, with no means of finding a way out. Hypnotherapy can help us see things in a completely different light as well as make it easier to cope with challenging aspects of our life in a more calm and effective way.
What is hypnosis?
Hypnosis is an altered state of awareness, which you experience naturally every day. It happens automatically anytime you become deeply relaxed or highly focussed, such as when you are reading a good book or watching a great film. The active mind becomes quiet and there is a slight shift in consciousness. Hypnosis simply takes you deeper into that shift in awareness, through techniques which focus the conscious mind, such as a guided visualisation or relaxation. In this altered state, the subconscious mind can be taken back to a particular point as hypnosis can make memories more real and ideas much clearer. It will also be more open to accepting any positive suggestions which can help to create the beneficial changes in your attitudes and behaviour that you desire.
What is hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy puts the state of hypnosis to therapeutic use, combining specialised techniques such as regression therapy, positive suggestion therapy, nlp techniques, and visualisations to help you with your issue. Hypnotherapy can help you address your problem and find new ways forward, transforming old habits and unhelpful behaviours into healthy new ones which not only benefit your health, but can help you change your life for the better in other ways too.

Hypnotherapy is one of the most pleasant and natural therapies available. It puts YOU in charge of your own mind and your outcomes.

You are in control in hypnosis
During hypnosis, you are always in control and it is your choice whether you stay in trance or not. Just as when you are enjoying a good book and the phone rings, you can choose whether you put the book down and answer the phone or whether you continue to read. Most subjects describe hypnosis as being extremely pleasant and relaxing, giving them a deep feeling of well being.
Who can be hypnotised?
Most people can be hypnotised if they choose to be and have the ability to relax. The more you are able to relax, the easier it is to enter a trance. Contrary to popular belief, you cannot be hypnotised against your will, or be made to do anything that you don't want to.
How does hypnosis work?
The subconscious mind controls the involuntary functions of the body, including habits and things that you do ‘automatically’ - it is fuelled by your emotions, beliefs and imagination and directs your behaviour from within. The subconscious mind also contains the memories of everything that has ever happened to you and compares what is happening now with similar experiences from the past, triggering similar thoughts, emotions and reactions. These reactions and behaviours may have been helpful at the time, but can be limitations in the present and can prevent you from being able to create new, more mature and evolved ways of responding to challenging situations.
You cannot consciously control what is coming from the subconscious mind. However, in hypnosis, your subconscious becomes very receptive to new ideas and suggestions
so that hypnotherapy can encourage more sensible, balanced and helpful attitudes to reality, which overwrite the old unconscious habits and patterns of the past.

What to expect during your session
We will initially discuss your issues, how hypnotherapy works and agree on your objectives. You will be guided into hypnosis, which is pleasant and relaxing. The initial hypnotherapy session is 1½ hours. Subsequent sessions are usually up to 1 hour.
Hypnotherapy is available in Frome, Somerset and Bristol in peaceful therapy room settings.
Hypnotherapy appointments are charged at an hourly rate of £60.
How many Hypnotherapy sessions do I need?
*Hypnotherapy programmes are designed to help you meet your objectives. The number of sessions required depends on the type of issue you are seeking help for as well as your own motivation and commitment for change. One-off hypnotherapy sessions can include relaxation e.g. for general stress reduction, for wedding day nerves, a driving test or exams. Stop Smoking Hypnotherapy is usually a one-off session.
For long-standing issues, more sessions are usually required. Often, as few as two or three sessions can already make a significant difference.
Meridian Therapy
When combined with hypnotherapy, Kinesiology often allows significant progress to be made from the outset. Kinesiology meridian therapy techniques may be integrated into sessions as they are invaluable in clearing and balancing the flow of energy at the root of emotional, psychological and physical stress, clearing the way for hypnotherapy to encourage more balanced attitudes, responses and behaviours to life. Not only can it quickly expose self-sabotaging core beliefs which unconsciously work to prevent you fulfilling your goals, but it may also help to significantly reduce or clear the negative influence of traumatic memories or emotions. Incorporating a Kinesiology approach into your program can significantly reduce the length of therapy.
